Cookie policy

This page explains what Venuo stores on your device and why. It should be read together with our privacy policy.

The short version

Venuo uses one advertising cookie, Meta’s pixel, and only if you press Accept on the cookie notice. We do not use third-party analytics: we count visits ourselves, without cookies. The site also keeps a couple of small preferences on your own device so that it behaves the way you left it.

What we store on your device

We use your browser’s local storage, which works much like a cookie but is never sent to our servers. Two things are stored there:

  • Your theme. If you press the light or dark switch, we remember your choice so that the page does not flash the wrong colours on your next visit. It is stored only once you use the switch.
  • Your answer to the cookie notice. Once you press Accept or Decline, we remember which, so that the notice does not come back.

Both stay until you clear your browser’s site data. Neither identifies you.

While you browse, the tab’s temporary storage also holds two things: a note of which event pages you have opened, so that each view is counted once, and a random number that ties the pages of one visit together so that we can count visits. The number says nothing about who you are and is never used again. Both are cleared when you close the tab.

Essential cookies

Venuo itself sets no cookies unless you accept advertising cookies. The companies that host the site may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technology to deliver it securely and to protect it from abuse.

Advertising cookies

If you press Accept, we load Meta’s pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta which Venuo pages you open, along with your IP address and browser details, and sets these cookies:

  • _fbp, which lets Meta recognise your browser on later visits. It lasts 90 days, renewed each time you visit.
  • _fbc, only if you arrived by clicking one of our ads, so that the visit is credited to that ad. It also lasts 90 days.

Meta can match this with a Facebook or Instagram account, if you have one. We use it to measure whether our ads bring people to Venuo, and to show our ads to people likely to be interested. Meta also uses it for its own purposes, as described in its privacy policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

If you press Decline, or do not answer, the pixel is not loaded and nothing is sent to Meta.

Other websites

Venuo links to other websites: an organiser’s ticketing page, a map for directions, and the networks behind the share buttons. Our share buttons are plain links: they send nothing to a social network until you press one. Once you arrive on another site, its own cookies and policies apply.

Event images are loaded from our image storage provider, which, like any server, sees the IP address of the device asking for them.

Your choices

You can change your answer at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of every page. If you withdraw your consent, the pixel stops sending anything to Meta and we delete the cookies it set.

You can also clear what Venuo has stored at any time from your browser’s settings, under site data or cookies, or block storage altogether. The site still works. It simply will not remember your theme, and the cookie notice may come back.

To control the ads Meta shows you, use the ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account.

Changes to this policy

If we start using other analytics or advertising tools, or anything beyond what is described here, we will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
